Star Wars Black Series Sabine Wren Review

Star Wars Black Series Sabine Wren Action Figure Review
Sabine Wren
Welcome to our review of the Star Wars Black Series Sabine Wren Action Figure.

Now if you follow the Star Wars Rebels cartoon, you know that this look is actually dated. Sabine Wren customizes her armor... and hair... as she goes. Each new mark signifies a major battle or campaign. In essence she's keeping score on her armor - just like Clone Captain Rex did - but in a less morbid manner  (Rex kept a tally of the dead on his armor).

The current incarnation of the Lothal Rebel's ace saboteur and demolitions expert currently sports a silver to violet mane of hair (She had blue to green hair in Season 2), and a much more colorful set of armor. This is her Star Wars Rebels Season 1 incarnation.

Also she now wields the infamous Darksaber - the sword wielded by the late commander of the Mandalorian Death Watch, Pre Vizsla - who wielded the Dark Saber till Darth Maul decided to decapitate him. Darth Maul would wield the Darksaber till he decided to leave it in the Nightsister's lair on Dathomir where it would work it's way back into a Mandalorian's hand.

Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano Review

Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano Review
Star Wars Black Series Ahsoka Tano
Presenting the failed Jedi Ahsoka Tano from the Star Wars Black Series 6" toyline.

We're not really fans of Star Wars Rebels since they tend to make fun of the Empire and have no respect for canon.

But we do love the fact that they are trying to tie up a loose end left from the very very lovely Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon series: The fate of Anakin Skywalker's failed padawan, Ahsoka "Snips" Tano.

The Clone Wars definitely ended with her fate hanging. We expected her to die at the end of the Clone Wars since Anakin Skywalker did not have a Padawan learner at the start of Episode III.

But no, she's back and still kicking. It's actually a bit incredulous that the Jedi would let a trained Padawan on the verge of knighthood just quit - taking all her skills with her. Isn't that more or less how Sith are born?

So long Princess: Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), October 21, 1956 - December 27, 2016

Our beloved Princess Leia Organa-Solo, Carrie Frances Fisher, has become one with the Force. She drowned in the moonlight, strangled by her own bra.

SND-01 Primo Vitalis Optimus Prime Upgrade Kit Review

SND-01 Primo Vitalis Optimus Prime Upgrade Kit Review
Primo Vitalis Optimus Prime
Welcome to our SND-01 Primo Vitalis Optimus Prime Upgrade Kit Review!

First of all Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Please do also check out our Primo Vitalis Upgrade Kit Assembly Guide by clicking here.

To the uninitiated, this particular "look" of having a split chest and shoulder pads was conceptualized by IDW Comics for their Transformers Title.

We've since seen this design incarnated into the Legends Class Transformers Generations Optimus Prime, and; into Toyworld's Orion.

Neither Hasbro or Takara have come up with an official IDW Split-Chest Optimus Prime, but we're sure it's just a matter of time. Til then we have Shigeru Ningyo Do (SND) to thank for their Primo Vitalis Upgrade kit for the Transformers Combiner Wars Optimus Prime.

Have a little Hope this Christmas!

This Christmas may Hope fill your lives! Merry Christmas from the Dark Lord Dungeon! :D

Machine Robo Series 06 Blackbird Robo Snoop Gobot Review

Machine Robo Series 06 Blackbird Robo Snoop Gobot Review
Blackbird Robo AKA the Renegade Swoop
Welcome to a review of Machine Robo Series 06 Blackbird Robo - AKA the Gobot Swoop - from Action Toys.

To the uninitiated, Machine Robo was a series of transformable toys released like Matchboxes in 1982 (34 years ago) by Popy, a division of Bandai. Some of the simply designated Machine Robos were actually even Mecha.

American Toy Maker Tonka loved the idea, licensed it from Bandai, but made them all sentient robots, gave them better names rather than just simple designations, and divided them into "Good-guy" and "Bad-guy" categories - or Guardians and Renegades. The Challenge of the Gobots would rise to give the Transformers a run for their money when the cartoon aired 65 episodes starting in 1984.

Machine Robo meanwhile would have its own 47 episode cartoon released on Tokyo TV from 1986 to 1987 called Machine Robo: Revenge of Chronos (Released as Revenge of the Gobots in the US).

Hasbro eventually won the war though and purchased Tonka and the rights to the Gobots. Unfortunately, as Tonka has only leased the rights to the images of Machine Robo to Tonka, Hasbro owns an empty concept.

Wonder Woman versus Wolverine - Alternate Ending

Bat-in-the-Sun finally released the alternate ending to the very controversial - and having watched it again this morning, quite violent and slightly disturbing - face off between Wonder Woman and Wolverine. Highlights include

  • Still not quite the ending we envisioned. Seriously we're no real fan of the Wolverine, but a volcano would not kill him. It would hurt the hell out of him, but since lava would just burn him and not incinerate him, he should be able to swim out. However, it lava would not result in the ending that Bat-in-the-Sun gave him either.
  • Expanded Xavier's Mansion sequence featuring Gambit, Rogue, Jean Grey, Morph and Deadpool.

SND-01 Primo Vitalis Optimus Prime Upgrade Kit Assembly Guide

Assembly Guide
SND-01 Primo Vitalis Optimus Prime Upgrade
Welcome to an assembly guide for the SND-01 Primo Vitalis Combiner Wars Optimus Prime upgrade kit.

We had the chance to discuss the SND-01 with several other Transformers collectors and the consensus seems to be universal that this is without a doubt one of the best upgrade kits ever to be released in the market.

However a lot of collectors are overwhelmed by the a) Suggestion that the Primo Vitalis is less of an upgrade kit and more of a kit that creates a new toy, and; b) Idea that doing so means that you have to deal with the "exploding" joints of the Combiner Wars Optimus Prime.

Both ideas are true. Unlike car upgrades, most Transformers upgrades can be reversed or removed. While the SND-01 Primo Vitalis can be reversed, it would require a hell of a lot of work. And a quick trip to YouTube to watch some people bully through the instruction manual will show just how explosive the hip joints of the Combiner Wars Optimus Prime can be.

Hopefully this assembly guide will help.

Asia Carfi Cosplay

We've recently fallen in love with the work of Asia Carfi - a Cosplayer from Rome, Italy.(but born in Springfield, USA). Her works include quite dark characters such as the Suicide Squad's Enchantress that you see here, the Scarlet Witch, Wednesday Addams, Xena the Warrior Princess, and Violet of the Incredibles:

Gotham City Sirens movie confirmed.

Gotham City Sirens
Harley Quinn
Gotham City Sirens the movie is now confirmed and Margot Robbie returns as Harley Quinn under the direction of David Ayers.

A lot of people are actually surprised that David Ayers is returning to direct for DC following all his complaints about internal-manipulations that led to the successful but critically mangled Suicide Squad (Which stands at 26% on Rotten Tomatoes as of today - 1 whole point below Batman v Superman), but did make a whopping US$745 in the box office.

Tomb Raider reboot writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet has signed on to write the Girl-Power Spin-off for DC.

Hopefully we can expect a new Catwoman who isn't Halle Berry.

No release date has been set, but the project is said to be on the fast-track.

Transformers Mini-Con Assault Team: Centuritron Quick Review

Transformers Mini-Con Assault Team
Transformers Mini-Con Assault Team:Centuritron
Welcome to a quick review of the Transformers Mini-Con Assault Team: Centurion.

To be perfectly honest, when Hasbro released the Mini-Con Assault team, we assumed that, yes while they could be combined to form Centuritron, they could be used as building blocks to build even bigger Transformers.

Looking back, yeah that was a bit naive, but they were practically unstoppable in the comic books because they could combine.

Alas they cannot and all we have is this tiny Mini-con made out of three even smaller Mini-cons - though actually they aren't Mini-Cons, they're Ammonites - a race of omnicombinational beings that have the power to combine with other Ammonites. Now imagine 70Billion of them coming to attack you.

Sadly they all exploded.

Marvel Legends Secret War Captain America Quick Review

Marvel Legends Abomination BAF Series
Because overthrowing foreign government requires new threads
Welcome to a quick review of the Marvel Legends Secret War Captain America from their Abomination BAF series.

This is the uniform that Captain America wore when he was recruited by Nick Fury - along with Wolverine, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Black Widow and Daisy "Quake" Johnson - off on a mission to overthrow Latveria's then rightful ruler, Prime Minister Lucia von Bardas.

Unfortunately Nick Fury wiped their memories of the mission following their attack on Latveria - which pisses off the heroes later when they find out.

Because of this private war, Nick Fury would lose his post as the head of SHIELD. Secret War was a five issue comic book series that ran from 2004-2005, written by Brian Michael Bendis and brought to life by Artist Gabriele Dell'Otto)

Top 5 fan-favorite female GI Joe characters

GI Joe
Who is the fairest of them all?
Welcome to the results of a Facebook Fan page poll "Which is your favorite female character?"

Again this is from the GI joe Rec Room Facebook page - do join us there - where Ed asked that particular question.

It wasn't very specific so right off the bat, COBRA women were thrown into the survey. After a while it got quite educational as the some of the members voted for women who were neither: Such as the Oktober Guard's Leytenánt Daina L. Janack, and the civilian Candy Appel.

Surprisingly none of the newer GI Joe women made it into the list, and nobody voted for the Female Cobra officers - who we believe are really, really hot.

Here are the top five results:

Peter Vaughan passes away

We will always remember him as the kind father of Anthony Hopkins in the movie The Remains of the Day (1993).

May he rest in peace.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Superion with a KO Crossfire Upgrade

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
So you don't think I have a killer instinct huh!
Welcome to a review of the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Superion Autobot set with a Knock-Off (KO) Crossfire Upgrade.

Before the release of the Transformers Combiner Wars Superion, this was pretty much the paragon of Superions, and the one you absolutely had to have in your collection. This was also repackaged in a Transformers Universe box.

We've had him in the Dungeon for quite some time but it was only recently that we came across a cheap KO version of the Fansproject Crossfire upgrade.

No Superion did not make an appearance in the movie, and he does come with those "Powercore" attachments that do absolutely nothing.

The reason for this is because this is  redeco of the Takara Superion Maximus who appeared in the Transformers Energon cartoon. He and his brother, Dauntles Maximus were one of the four combiners chosen to guard the Super Energon at the core of Cybertron.

Transformers the Last Knight Teaser Trailer

Transformers the Last Knight has finally released a trailer that is not just filled with explosions. Sadly the trailer is quite confusing and is open to a lot of speculation and guess-works. Highlights include:

  • Optimus Prime flying off into space alone turned out to be a pretty dumb idea.
  • A dystopian future Earth?
  • Unicron?
  • Nemesis Prime?
  • The Autobots (Bumblebee) versus some kind of Walker (Drone?)
  • Bumblebee versus Optimus Prime/Nemesis Prime - as if he stood a chance.

Marvel just released another trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and it is AWESOME!!!

Highlights include:

  • The Guardians are battling Shuma Gorath!!!! (Well we hope it's Shuma Gorath) Some of them will battle him from the inside. If that is Shuma Gorath, then we have a link to Dr Strange.
  • Baby Groot is both adorable and scary as hell!
  • Mantis (Pom Klementieff, Oldboy, Hacker's Game)! With no cleavage whatsoever.
  • A major space-battle.
