Petron 80th Year Limited Edition Porsche Collection

Presenting the Petron 80th year Limited Edition Porsche Collection.

It's Holy Week here in the Philippines. Three to four days when Catholics are supposed to reflect on the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. There's a plethora of Filipino traditions done during this time, including the Pabasa - a dying tradition actually involving publicly singing the narrative of Christ's life (While I write this, just such a chant is going on in the background courtesy of some well meaning but extremely tone deaf elders. I suppose this is my penance. I will suffer in silence).

Ironically - or because we live in modern times - most of the youth today would rather take this opportunity to spend the weekend in debauchery in the provinces or in any of our wonderful provinces and majestic beaches.

On the way to these beaches, do top off in a Petron Station and check out their 80th Year Limited Porsches that are for sale for P180 each for every P500 fuel purchase - though since there's no demanded proof of purchase (No stamping of receipts or anything) you can actually just flash a smile and get them for P180 without the fuel purchase.

Petron is pushing three Porsches, specifically: A Black Porsche Cayenne; A Blue Cayman S, and; a Red Panamera - Tiptronic S. I only got two of them, the really cool Cayman S and the Tiptronic S. Not really sure if I'll complete the set.

Both are extremely well detailed internally and externally, although personally I think that the interiors could use a little more color and despite what the photos on the back of the packages show you, no the hoods do not open and you cannot see the engine.

If you do open the car doors, you either get a car alarm or a honking sound while the head and tail lights start blinking. And then if you put the car down and press down on the hood, you get the wonderful sound of a starting Porsche engine and the head and tail lights go on again. You can also pull back the car that will wind up a simple spring mechanism that will propel the car forward.

The Petron Porsche Cayman S's Blister back describes it as having the following:
  • Engine Layout - Mid Engine
  • Cylinders - 6
  • Displacement - 3.4 L
  • Horsepower - 320 HP
  • RPM - 7,200 RPM

  • 0-60 mph 4.9 sec. The German tuned Doppelkupplung 7 gear version can make it in 4.8 seconds; 4.6 if it was the Sports Plus version

The Petron Porsche Panamera - Tiptronic S's Blister back describes it as having the following:
  • Layout - Rear-wheel Drive
  • 8 Speed Tiptronic S - Standard
  • Number of Cylinders - 6
  • Displacement - 2,967 cm3
